Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Construction Materials Project Manager in Charleston, SC. You will lead field investigations, testing programs, and documentation for soils, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials, while guiding junior staff.

The role blends hands-on fieldwork with analytical problem-solving and direct client interaction. Strong communication, written skills, and leadership are essential for success in a fast-paced, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in project management of construction materials testing/inspections.
• ACI Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; ICC Special Inspector credentials.
• Excellent business and technical writing skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to lead teams with varying responsibilities and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead field investigations, subsurface explorations, and coordinate laboratory testing programs.
• Perform field inspections and construction monitoring while documenting site conditions.
• Conduct technical evaluations and assist training of junior staff on analytical procedures.
• Develop detailed technical reports, daily field summaries, and assist with proposals.
• Support client engagement, networking, and business development initiatives.
