Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. Responsibilities include inspecting varied construction projects, advising the Resident Engineer, collecting samples, and coordinating field tests.

Qualifications

• College degree or 5+ years' experience with transportation or civil projects.
• 4+ years supervising or inspecting engineering construction work.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on various construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency PM and informs contractors of variances from plans.
• Takes samples, prepares test specimens, and assists in field tests.
• Checks location of public utilities to avoid interference with work.
• Checks roadway, slope, structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures.
• Reviews contractor's traffic control plans and field traffic control; reviews project safety.
• Inspects earthwork grading, asphalt concrete placement, proportions and mix control.
• Inspects delivery, placement and curing of concrete and reinforcement placement.
• Assists PM in review of submittals, RFIs, CCOs.
• Verifies material acceptability via certificates, shop drawings, test reports.
• Maintains material and inspection records and a daily diary.
