Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs seeks an employee to perform unskilled to semi-skilled tasks in construction, maintenance, operation, and repair of streets, sidewalks, drainage and facilities. Work involves operating light to heavy equipment alongside basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks as directed.

The role requires adherence to safety practices and the ability to work in varied environments, with potential standby for storms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in semi-skilled maintenance or construction preferred.
• Knowledge of safety practices in public works and construction.
• Ability to read and follow simple written/oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and work in teams.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload materials and carry components to worksites.
• Assist with setup and dismantling of scaffolding; drill holes and secure components.
• Operate light to medium equipment and perform basic maintenance on tools.
• Assist in maintenance of yards, facilities, and minor repairs as directed.
• Maintain simple records of work activities.
