Job summary

The City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking an entry-level, multi-divisional maintenance worker to perform routine and semiskilled manual tasks in water canals, parks, sewers, and related departments under direct supervision. The role may require 24-hour shift rotations, weekends, holidays, and emergencies, with on-call responsibilities after hours.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience operating light and medium duty vehicles such as dump trucks and related equipment.
• Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license; a Class “B” license must be obtained within six months of probation.

Responsibilities

• Picks up debris and other refuse or recyclables and places it in a truck or hopper.
• Operates mechanisms for loading, compressing, screening, sorting, conveying, and dumping garbage, refuse, and recyclables.
• Assists in attaching, dumping, detaching, and replacing detachable refuse bins on assigned route.
• Drives refuse truck along a collection route as required.

Skills

Light/Medium duty vehicle experience
