Job summary

The Caton Companies is seeking a General Laborer for our Wake County, North Carolina Bridge & Roadway Project. The role involves physical labor on construction sites, operating hand and power tools, and assisting other craft workers. Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.

– 3:30 p.m., with possible local or out-of-town work and overnight stays. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required, with 2+ years of heavy highway experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License Required.
• 2+ years of heavy highway experience; Roads, Highways, Bridges, DOT, or site work project experience

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work.
• Shovels bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
• Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Providing assistance to Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
• Laborers may also spend time with traffic control and flagging.
• Laborers operate a variety of equipment and must adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times.
