Job summary

Probst Electric Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Controller to join our Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas team. You will oversee budgeting, cost tracking, financial reporting, contract management, and risk mitigation for a large data center construction project.

The role requires coordination with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Finance to ensure financial alignment with budgets and schedules. The position emphasizes accurate reporting, proactive financial analysis, and strategic decision

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
• MBA, MFPA, or advanced financial certifications preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, construction finance, or project cost control.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with high-voltage transmission & distribution construction projects is a plus.
• Proficiency in JDE, SAP, or other financial management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in variance analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Proficiency in project management software and financial reporting tools.
• Understanding of construction contracts, legal compliance, and financial risk management.

Responsibilities

• Budgeting & forecasting: develop and manage project budgets and cost breakdowns.
• Cost tracking & analysis: monitor costs and provide variance analysis.
• Financial & progress reporting: generate detailed reports and track schedule vs. cost.
• Contract & change order management: review contracts and process changes.
• Risk management & compliance: identify financial risks and ensure controls.
• Collaboration & communication: work with PMs, site staff, and finance for reporting.
