Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking a Project Controller to oversee the financial performance of a large-scale data center construction project in Provo, Utah. You will work with project management, construction leadership and corporate finance to provide reporting, forecasting and analysis to keep the project on budget and commercially successful.

You’ll develop and maintain detailed budgets and forecasts, track costs, support WBS setup, produce weekly and monthly reports, and help with cost-to-complete

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in project accounting, construction finance or project controls.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
  • Experience with JDE, SAP, EcoSys or comparable financial systems.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, change orders and project cost structures.
  • A degree in accounting, finance, construction management or a related field.
  • Data center, electrical infrastructure or transmission and distribution experience would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining detailed project budgets and forecasts.

  • Managing cost-to-complete projections and identifying budget variances.
  • Supporting Work Breakdown Structure setup and accurate cost coding.
  • Producing weekly and monthly cost, cash-flow and performance reports.
  • Leading financial forecasting with project and construction managers.
  • Tracking change orders, contracts, invoicing, receivables and retainage.
  • Supporting monthly job reviews and project risk-register updates.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and financial risks.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls and construction accounting standards.

Job description

A leading utility and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Project Controller to oversee the financial performance of a large-scale data center construction project in Provo, Utah.

Working closely with project management, construction leadership and corporate finance, this individual will provide the reporting, forecasting and financial analysis needed to keep a complex major project on budget and commercially successful.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project budgets and forecasts
