Job summary

Turner in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Estimator to support Lead Estimators in all estimating functions during the Launch process. You will lead quantity take-off, develop budgets, and prepare GMP-ready estimates with input from trade partners and design documents.

This role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent) with about 8+ years of experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar, and minimum of 8 years of experience.
• Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing.
• Building construction knowledge, materials, systems and trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide analysis of documents.
• Project management of competing demands and meeting deadlines.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills and estimating software familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Preconstruction Manager in estimating functions throughout the launch.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists for budget pricing and bidding.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer.
• Prepare comparison analyses and explain variances to stakeholders.
• Visit project sites to evaluate conditions and identify scope gaps or additions.
• Support set-up of estimate, schedule, and responsibility matrix.
• Develop estimates and GMP documents for owner submission.
