Job summary

Skillforce is seeking a Construction Estimator to support commercial projects from our Chantilly, VA office. The role focuses on reviewing scopes, analyzing plans, and developing detailed cost estimates and proposals for bids.

You will interact with clients throughout the bidding process and manage project tracking in Salesforce, with 5+ years in estimating or related roles, plus commercial construction experience preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, and specs.
• Proven track record of preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope to understand client requirements, timelines and deliverables.
• Analyze drawings and specs to identify material needs, labor, and costs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals with labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain client communications throughout bidding and support bid outcomes.
• Utilize Salesforce to track projects, client records, bid status, and documentation.

Job description

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually

Skillforce has teamed up with one of the leading commercial fence companies to find a Construction Estimator to work on commercial projects out of their Chantilly, VA office. This is a full-time position with this company.

• Review project scope of work to ensure full understanding of client requirements, timelines, and deliverables prior to preparing estimates and proposals
• Analyze building plans, drawings, and specifications to identify material requirements, labor needs, and potential project challenges or cost impacts
• Compile detailed cost estimates and develop comprehensive proposals, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing to ensure accurate and competitive bids
• Communicate with clients throughout the bidding process, responding to questions, clarifying project details, and maintaining strong professional relationships to support successful bid outcomes
• Utilize Salesforce to manage all aspects of project tracking, including maintaining client records, tracking bid status, organizing project documentation, and monitoring communication history
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimating, project coordination, construction administration, or a related role
• Strong ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Proven experience preparing detailed cost estimates and project proposals with a high level of accuracy
• Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM/project management software for tracking projects, client communications, and bid activity
• Construction industry experience preferred; experience in commercial construction is a plus
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen to include marijuana testing
• Pay: Different pay structures based on commission and experience level, $60k base plus commission for new college grads, $80k base plus commission for more experience. Typical average after 1st year of around $100k with $120-$150k average after that.
