Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Construction Engineer I to support our Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Bannockburn IL offices. You will assist with a range of projects from roadways and bridges to underground infrastructure and will have opportunities to work directly with clients and design teams.

We encourage candidates pursuing a Professional Engineering license. Ideal candidates hold a BS in Civil or Construction Engineering, can travel within our service area, and are eager to learn on the job.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel throughout Baxter & Woodmans service area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on site observation of work, repairs and tests as needed.
• Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
• Maintain job site records: daily reports, meeting minutes, approved drawings and pay requests.
• Serve as liaison with contractor and monitor progress and shop drawing log.
• Review pay requests and verify completed work; assist with design of future projects.
