Job summary

Baxter and Woodman Inc is seeking a Construction Engineer I for its Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Bannockburn, IL offices. The role supports the construction group on diverse projects, offering hands-on site work and collaboration with clients to design and implement infrastructure solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Civil or Construction Engineering and is pursuing a Professional Engineer license.

Qualifications

BS in Civil or Construction Engineering.
Willingness to travel within Baxter & Woodman’s service area.
Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Able to work in a team-first culture that emphasizes development and goals.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.
Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
Maintain job site records including daily reports, meeting minutes, drawings, and pay requests.
Observe, measure and document construction activities.
Maintain a daily log of construction activities.
Review pay requests and verify completed work.
Assist with design of future projects during off season.
