Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. is seeking a full-time Construction Engineer or Construction Administrator for our Construction Services business unit in Saint Louis, MO. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of field or project experience and a strong background in inspecting civil works projects.

The role requires coordination with the Construction Management team, documentation of daily field activities, and support for pay estimates and change orders while prioritizing safety and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years of experience in construction engineering or administration.
• Ability to read and interpret contract plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspection of bridges, roadways, storm sewers, or public works construction to confirm compliance with contract plans and client policies.
• Inform the Construction Manager or Supervisor of observed problems and issues.
• Communicate with the Construction Management team to address questions from the public, client, or contractors.
• Measure and record construction quantities for contractor payments using required forms and software.
• Prepare daily field reports with pay quantities, material needs, and crew staffing.
