Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. in Missouri is seeking a part-time Construction Engineer or Construction Administrator with 3+ years of field experience to support our Construction Services team.

Responsibilities include inspecting diverse public works projects, documenting daily field activities, preparing pay estimates, and coordinating with the Construction Management team while emphasizing safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Critical thinking and analysis.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bridges, roadways, and public works sites for contract compliance.
• Inform Construction Manager of observed problems.
• Coordinate with Construction Management to address questions.
• Inspect earthwork, traffic control, and utilities.
• Measure and record construction quantities for pay using forms and software.
• Complete daily field reports with pay quantities and material needs.
• Supply photo documentation to support observations.
• Assist with pay estimates, extra work orders, or claims.
• Assist field staff in developing strategic approaches and concepts.
• Record time, equipment, and material for change orders.
• Observe traffic control daily.
• Perform work safely with emphasis on safety of all.
