Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. is seeking a full-time Building Project Engineer in our Structural Business Unit, with 8+ years of experience. The role emphasizes design standards, calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and cross-disciplinary coordination.

The ideal candidate holds PE licensing in IL/MO/AR (IL license preferred) and has exposure to water/wastewater structures. Located in Missouri, the firm offers growth and ownership culture within a Top Workplace-recognized environment.

Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Missouri, or Arkansas.
Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois (preferred).
Experience with structural design and detailing of water or wastewater plant structures or similar structures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.
Knowledge of Structural Design Software.
Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must complete a background check.

Responsibilities

Follow Building Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager.
Perform and check structural engineering calculations using company, client, and industry standards.
Prepare and check structural construction drawings meeting firm and client requirements.
Develop and check cost estimates.
Prepare reports and studies.
Assist in project management.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure project completion.
