Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support construction projects in the Washington, DC Metro Area, including the College Park, MD and Herndon, VA offices. The role requires broad safety expertise across regulatory compliance, risk assessment and incident prevention.

You will lead site inspections, support incident investigations, assess permits (hot work, confined space, fall protection) and promote a safe working culture across multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EH&S related field required.
• Professional certification (BCSP GSP or ASP) preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections and document corrective actions.
• Support incident investigations with data collection and reporting.
• Evaluate planning/permits (e.g., Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection).
• Apply Industrial Hygiene concepts to hearing conservation, silica, asbestos, lead, etc.
• Understand fire protection and storage of flammable/combustible materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Duties may vary by location and project needs.
