Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support construction projects in the Raleigh area. The role requires broad technical and managerial capabilities to ensure safe onsite operations and regulatory compliance.

Candidates should have a degree in EH&S or related field, recognized safety certifications, and experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and applying OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or related field required.
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification preferred.
• BCSP certification (GSP or ASP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular job site inspections and document corrective actions.
• Assist with incident investigations including interviews, data collection, and reporting.
• Evaluate planning/permits for safety compliance (Search examples: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection).
• Apply Industrial Hygiene practices for hearing conservation, silica, asbestos, lead work, and related hazards.
• Understand fire protection and safe storage/handling of flammable materials.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA regulations and apply them on site.
• Support safety/field management across locations.
