Job summary

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to oversee independent construction cost control for multiple projects. You will prepare estimates, analyze change orders, and support value engineering and lifecycle costing to add client value.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, plus experience with estimating software, Onscreen takeoff, and BIM. Office-based with potential site work in Portland, OR.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, quantity surveying or related field.
Recent experience and specialty in electrical and mechanical cost strategies.
Cost control in commercial/institutional/industrial vertical construction.
Experience with conceptual and detailed measurement/pricing.
CMGC/GCCM process experience.
Experience with estimating software systems, onscreen takeoff software and BIM.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction cost estimates, cost plans, and cost strategies.
Review change orders and value work in progress and bid analyses.
Prepare studies on value engineering, life cycle costing, and sustainable practices.
Gather proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents for estimation.
Identify labor, material, and time requirements from documents.
Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Present estimates with numerical and descriptive information.
Maintain cost data and keep technical knowledge current.
