Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Claims Specialist, Construction to join our Casualty Claims team in the United States. The role focuses on direct handling of construction-related General Liability claims, reserve setting, and collaboration with underwriters, risk control, and distribution partners.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in insurance claims or law firm experience, aLicense, and a strong writing/communication background. Domestic travel and collaboration across offices are possible.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree preferred; Juris Doctorate preferred but not required; adjuster’s license required.
• Minimum 3–5 years in an insurance technical claims position or at a law firm with construction-related focus.
• Insurance-related professional designations (CPCU, IIA, SCLA) a plus.
• Excellent writing and communication skills; ability to assess coverage and reservation strategies.
• Ability to build strong relationships with underwriting partners and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct handling and management of primary and excess General Liability Construction-related claims.
• Provide coverage analysis and establish reserves for exposures.
• Communicate loss trends and high exposure cases to management and underwriters.
• Manage counsel and execute strategy to control expenses and resolve litigated claims.
• Maintain accurate diaries and documentation in line with company standards.
• Support renewals and maintain industry and product knowledge.
