Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Claims Specialist, Construction to join the Casualty Claims team. You will directly handle construction-related General Liability claims, assess coverage, reserve, and coordinate strategy with underwriters and counsel.

The role requires 3–5 years in insurance claims or a law firm focused on construction, plus an adjuster license; JD is a plus. Multiple U.S. office locations offered, including Miami, FL, with a robust compensation package.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree preferred; Juris Doctorate preferred but not required; adjuster’s license required.
• Minimum 3-5 years in an insurance technical claims position or at a law firm focused on Construction-related files.
• Insurance designations such as CPCU, IIA, or SCLA are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct handling and management of primary and excess General Liability claims for Construction-insureds.
• Provide coverage and analysis of potential exposures and establish reserves.
• Communicate responses to management and underwriters on new losses and trends.
• Manage counsel; develop strategy to control expenses and resolve litigated claims.
• Proactively manage correspondence, claim files, and diary in compliance with standards.
• Support underwriters and actuaries during renewal and maintain industry-related expertise.
