Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Claims Representative in the Complex Claims Unit for Construction within Hartford Global Specialty. The role handles construction-related general liability claims from inception to disposition, including bodily injury and property damage, often with complex contracts and potential litigation.

You will analyze exposures, communicate decisions, and support risk transfer opportunities.

Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills;
Bachelor’s degree preferred; 1-2 years of claim handling or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide proactive communications and respond to inquiries from customers and business partners in the management of claims;
Review and analyze complex policies and coverage parts;
Write and articulate coverage positions;
Conduct investigations regarding claims and/or lawsuits;
Manage litigation with counsel and/or other carriers;
Make liability and damages assessments;
Pursue risk transfer against other liable parties and insurance carriers;
Attend mediations and trials, as necessary;
Keep management informed of claim developments;
Manage expenses, reserves and financial transactions;
