Job summary

The Hartford in Scottsdale, AZ, is hiring a HGS Construction Claims Representative in the Complex Claims Unit to manage construction-related liability and property damage claims from inception to final disposition. The role involves analyzing contracts, reviewing policies, and coordinating with counsel and other carriers.

You will conduct investigations, assess liability and damages, and communicate findings to stakeholders, with licensing requirements and potential hybrid/remote work options.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Customer service and active listening skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Experience utilizing generative AI tools to assist with claim handling is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 1–2 years claim handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive communications and respond to inquiries from customers and business partners in the management of claims.
• Review and analyze complex policies and coverage parts.
• Write and articulate coverage positions.
• Conduct investigations regarding claims and/or lawsuits.
• Manage litigation with counsel and/or other carriers.
• Make liability and damages assessments.
• Pursue risk transfer against other liable parties and insurance carriers.
• Attend mediations and trials, as necessary.
• Keep management informed of claim developments.
• Manage expenses, reserves and financial transactions.
