Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Claims Consultant to manage a caseload of General Liability bodily injury and property damage claims from inception to disposition. You will analyze complex fact patterns, determine indemnity and coverage issues, and coordinate with defense counsel when needed.

This role supports a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement, with office presence near Hartford locations and select hubs; candidates may work remotely with occasional in-person requirements as business needs arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of five plus years handling General Liability litigated matters.
• Strong analytical ability and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and technical claim handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and evaluate information learned.
• Make coverage determinations and communicate positions.
• Within prescribed authority levels, set reserves and monitor adjustments.
• Present cases to management for reserve authority above thresholds.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies to achieve high quality outcomes.
• Proactively managing litigation and counsel, including planning and budgeting.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Contribute to broader claim and enterprise goals by participating in audits, projects and product development initiatives.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, industry trends.
• Work with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments.
• Address inquiries from agents and policyholders and provide superior customer service.
