Job summary

Santamariacemetery is seeking an Accounting Specialist in Santa Maria, CA for full-cycle accounting duties including journal entries, GL reconciliation, AP/AR, and payroll processing support. This role requires an Associate degree and at least 3 years of construction accounting experience.

You will process invoices, payments, notices, and prepare control documents, with a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, full-time or 20 hours weekly as needed. ESOP-friendly employer with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting or Business or similar discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in accounting.
• Knowledge of construction accounting, payroll, and invoicing.
• Proficiency with Spectrum, Sage or similar software.
• Proficiency with MS Office 365, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals.
• Process and record vendor and subcontractor payments.
• Track preliminary notices and lien releases.
• Ensure compliance with construction accounting standards and tax regs.
• Assist with union payroll processing and related tax reporting.
• Prepare control documents to reconcile payroll, AP and AR.
• Maintain accounting files and prepare reports as required.
• Assist Controller with audits and other duties.
