Earthjustice’s Oceans Program seeks a Project Attorney to advance marine protection through strategic litigation and advocacy in the United States. The role combines research, writing, and collaboration with partner organizations to strengthen legal frameworks for ocean conservation.

The position offers a 2.5-year term beginning January 2027, with a hybrid in-person requirement in Seattle or San Francisco and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Law school graduate with active bar membership.
• 2–5 years of post-law school legal experience.
• Excellent research, analytic, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and creativity.
• Commitment to public interest and Earthjustice’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Earthjustice attorneys and partner organizations on strategies to strengthen and reform U.S. ocean protection.
• Conduct factual and legal research, analysis, drafting, and coordination across teams.
• Represent Earthjustice in meetings with partner organizations, virtually or in person.
• Collaborate with scientists and staff to build cases and support policy goals.
• Participate in investigative, briefing, memo writing, and oral advocacy tasks.
