Summary

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Connection Advisor Outreach position in our Connection Center department. This full-time role will primarily work remotely (days/evenings). The schedule for this position will be 40 hours a week between 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The schedule will be decided following the 4-week on-campus training period, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for 1 week.

Purpose of this position

Under general supervision, provides outreach services for assigned departments and programs including, but not limited to: Centralized Referrals and Discharge Appointments. Uses call center, electronic health record, and departmental technology to meet the needs of patients and customers. Answers inquiries, troubleshoots complex issues, and provides information. Promotes patient and provider satisfaction and advances the continuum of care.

Remote work will start after training. Candidates need a quiet environment, high-speed internet, fire alarm, fire extinguisher, and desk space. Hennepin Healthcare will supply the necessary equipment. Employees must reside within 100 miles of downtown Minneapolis.

A $500 hiring incentive is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, contract/temporary workers, and former employees returning within one year are ineligible).

Responsibilities
  1. Makes outreach calls to coordinate appointments.
  2. Responds to calls from patients, physicians, office staff, and peers, prioritizing urgency and taking appropriate action.
  3. Works in Epic Work queues following departmental policies.
  4. Partners with clinics and services to meet scheduling needs.
  5. Schedules, cancels, and reschedules appointments.
  6. Obtains and accurately captures demographic and insurance information.
  7. Performs patient registrations professionally and accurately.
  8. Requests and processes payments for co-pays, pre-pays, and balances.
  9. Meets departmental quality standards.
  10. Coordinates with clinical staff as needed.
  11. Escalates calls when necessary.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned after training.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of data lookup/data entry experience
  • Two years of customer service experience involving complex problem-solving
  • Two years in a call center with a focus on healthcare or a specialized clinic
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Two years of post-secondary education
  • Healthcare call center experience
  • Clinical referrals experience
  • Six months in a Connection Advisor – Senior Position
