Job summary

First Student in Connecticut is hiring an Area Training Manager for a hybrid role that blends remote coordination with on-site training across multiple locations. You will manage and coach trainers, partner with location leadership, and ensure training programs meet company and regulatory standards.

The role requires at least three years of management experience, CT residency, and willingness to travel up to 50% within the state; a CDL is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Connecticut residency required.
• At least three years of management experience including supervising staff and performance management.
• CDL highly preferred.
• Experience in training, transportation, or safety operations is preferred.
• Ability to travel throughout Connecticut up to 50%.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training systems.
• Ability to drive as required for location visits.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and oversee training programs including new-hire and safety training in partnership with Location Managers.
• Schedule, coach, and support trainers to ensure coverage across locations.
• Partner with Candidate Experience Specialists to aid onboarding.
• Coordinate training needs with operations and safety teams.
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor training delivery, identify gaps, and improve practices.
• Plan staffing and resources for training staff.
• Provide hands-on training and backup coverage as needed.
• Review training data and propose improvements to performance.
• Travel within Connecticut to visit locations up to 50%.
