Job summary

Cooley LLP is seeking a Conflicts Staff Attorney to join the Business Intake and Conflicts team. You will help ensure compliance with ABA Model Rules across jurisdictions and support risk management and onboarding of new matters, clients, and personnel.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in conflicts resolution or 5+ years as an attorney, hold a JD, maintain good standing, and be willing to travel and work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of conflicts resolution experience or 5+ years as a practicing attorney.
• JD degree and active bar admission in relevant jurisdictions.
• Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of ABA Model Rules and jurisdictional differences.
• Monitor rule changes and suggest policy updates to leadership.
• Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest for new matters and hires.
• Coordinate with managers and analysts to determine conflict determinations.
• Draft/review ethical screens, waivers, and risk provisions.
• Assist with client engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines.
• Conduct research on conflicts and corporate relatedness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
