Job summary

BNSF is seeking an entry-level Conductor Trainee in Sioux City, IA. The role supports train operations and safety while training on-the-job and in classrooms. Expect on-call duties, seasonal work, and extensive travel within the region.

Relocation is not offered; a 3-year recall obligation may apply. Training includes trips to the training center in Overland Park, KS and practical hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to work in safety-sensitive environment and under variable weather.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Capable of heavy lifting and climbing/descending equipment.

Responsibilities

• Communication responsibilities: receiving, processing, and acting on information; monitoring daily work; handling signals and train movements.
• Switching functions: operate track switches and derails; ensure proper alignment.
• Train and equipment inspections: inspect cars, determine train makeup, report track issues.
