Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Concrete Specialist I/II to perform semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and carpentry duties. The role requires training in flagging, defensive driving, forklift operation, and CDL as needed, with mandatory safety and drug testing.

Essential tasks include curbs, gutters, and sidewalk work, sprinkler and landscaping installation, snow removal, and storm drain maintenance, with potential heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Flagging training with certification within 60 days and recertification every 2 years.
• Defensive Driving course within first two weeks and recertify as required by policy.
• Forklift certification within 4 months; CDL Class B within 30 days if required to operate county vehicles.
• UDOT Medical Card required at time of hire.
• Negative drug test required before starting; random testing may occur.

Responsibilities

• Assist in concrete construction, carpentry, and maintenance on curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and flatwork.
• Install and maintain sprinkler systems and landscaping.
• Maintain work area with traffic control equipment and safety compliance.
• Remove snow from roadways.
• Install and repair storm drains, catch basins, and cleanouts.
• Perform general repairs as needed.
• May operate some heavy equipment.
