Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Construction & Maintenance Specialist II to perform routine maintenance, repairs, fabrication, remodeling, and construction across county facilities, grounds, and equipment. The role requires two years of related experience and a valid Utah driver’s license, with licensing/medical requirements per department needs.

The incumbent will handle electrical, plumbing, HVAC, locksmith duties, and office furniture work while ensuring safety, compliance, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of facilities and grounds construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Grounds maintenance and gardening care.
• Preventative maintenance techniques.
• Standard safety practices and procedures in facilities work.
• Contracting methods and safety procedures for building and trades.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains service vehicles, equipment, and hand/power tools.
• Prepares records and reports on work requests and maintenance.
• Assists with loading/unloading and deliveries.
• Performs basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks as needed.
• Maintains and cleans facility grounds, curbs, sidewalks, and parking areas.
• Reads blueprints/schematics and estimates labor and materials.
