Job summary

High Point Fort Mill is seeking a Concierge to serve as the front desk receptionist for our community. The role involves meeting and greeting residents and visitors and handling various clerical duties including managing sign-ins, directing calls, and assisting with event reservations.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least one year of customer service experience, and possesses excellent communication and organizational skills. This is a part-time position, scheduled for 4 PM to 8 PM.

Job description

The Concierge is the front desk receptionist for the community, meeting and greeting members and the public and handling a variety of clerical duties.

Schedule: PT: 4pm-8pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Greet and assist residents and visitors in a polished, professional, discrete manner. Manage the front desk sign‑in and out process for visitors and vendors. Handle and direct incoming phone calls. Inform residents or staff of the arrival of guests, packages, and flowers.
  • Accommodate resident requests for assistance—referring to other staff as necessary.
  • Provide marketing information to visitors.
  • Assist Lifestyles Department with program / event reservations; collect program / event fees; maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain and regularly update database of resident general information and update/distribute resident phone list. Handle other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Support other departments as needed to ensure high quality resident service.
  • Demonstrate positive resident relations and community’s quality care and service standards to residents, families, and guests. Maintain positive, cheerful attitude at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Attend in‑service classes and staff meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position falls under the direct supervision of the Department Director but is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. The position is not required to supervise or direct other associates.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Educational Requirements and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

At least one (1) year of related work experience in customer service required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi‑task. Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Punctual and flexible.

Technical Skills:

Computer literate with good organizational skills.

Physical/Sensory:

On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching over the head, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds unassisted on a regular basis. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses to attain normal eyesight. Must have three‑dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have normal sense of touch and smell.

Environmental Adaptability:

Works in well‑lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as some noise. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary.

Risk/Safety:

The position includes minimal exposure to some risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e., physical assault, communicable disease, etc).
