Job summary

Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Inc. in Glendale is hiring a Part-Time Patient Access Representative for days. You’ll be the first contact for patients, handling registration, co-pays and insurance verification with a concierge attitude.

The role requires excellent communication, compassion, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, family-centered environment. Travel between locations may be needed based on department needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate's Degree in Healthcare, Business or related field preferred.
• 1 year of related office or retail experience with direct customer contact is required.
• EMR experience is preferred.
• AMPFM, Misys, or HIS platform experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Arrives patients who present for professional and hospital services and collects co-pay and deductible amounts.
• Documents information accurately in the system and maintains accurate demographic and insurance data.
• Courteously answers the telephone and responds to questions promptly.
• Identifies uninsured and underinsured patients and refers them to the Financial Counselor.
• Checks patient account systems to identify unpaid liabilities and issues.
• Maintains positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurers, and staff to promote teamwork and a positive image for Phoenix Children’s.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors daily work to ensure timely, compliant registrations.
• Participates in education programs to maintain current skills and competencies.
• Registers patients in HIS systems, verifies insurance coverage, and obtains authorizations as needed.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as requested.
