Job summary

Phipps Houses is seeking a concierge to provide friendly, professional service to residents and guests in a residential building in New York. The position includes handling work orders, monitoring access and security, screening visitors, and assisting with packages to ensure smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, be proficient with computers and Outlook, and prior concierge experience in residential settings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong professional presence and communicate clearly with residents and guests.
• Enter and track work orders submitted by residents or staff.
• Monitor building access and security, including cameras and entrances.
• Identify issues and escalate to the resident manager in a timely manner.
• Screen visitors and announce arrivals via the intercom system.
• Retrieve packages for tenants from the package room per established protocols.
• Keep the package room orderly and organized.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and it’s tax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities.

Concierge

$22.3319 per hour – 40 hours per week

Job Responsibilities

• Candidate must maintain a strong professional presence and be well spoken and articulate in their interactions with residents and their guests.
• Must be able to enter and track work orders into the system that are submitted by residents or staff members.
• Primary responsibility for maintaining proper access and security of the building for residents, employee and guests including monitoring of security camera feeds and in-person entranceways into the premises.
• Strong observational and diagnostic skills to proactively recognize and escal… possible security or other building issues in a timely manner to resident manager.
• Properly screen all visitors to the building and announce welcomed visitors via the building’s intercom system.
• Assist with retrieving packages for tenants from the package room per established protocols
• Ensure package room is maintained in an orderly manner
• Assist with other duties that may be assigned by management

Qualifications

Experience

• Prior experience as a concierge in residential building preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be proficient with a computer and be familiar with using Microsoft Outlook
• Prior direct experience and proven track record in a similar role preferred

• Strong customer service skills and managing tenant relationships in an extremely professional and courteous manner.
• Excellent oral and communications skills
• Exemplary work ethic and attention to detail with and focus on building cost control and efficiency

• Ability to take direction from Superintendent, Facilities Director and Management staff.
