Job summary

Poplar Bluff School District seeks a Computer Technician to support district technology, systems, and users.

The role troubleshoots hardware and software, maintains devices, and assists in the operation of networks. You will translate technical concepts for non-technical staff and prioritize tasks to keep classrooms connected.

Collaborate with the Technology Director and school staff, follow district policies, and ensure ethical use of technology.

Qualifications

• Equivalent of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field.
• Two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license.

COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: Technology Director

JOB GOAL: To ensure the effective, educational and ethical use of all technology in the district.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
• Update and maintain hardware and software components.
• Provide technical assistance and training to end-users.
• Inventory and maintain all technology hardware.
• Assist in maintaining wide and local area networks.
• Must be able to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
• Must be able to prioritize duties and complete work orders without direction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

• Experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Mac OS X, Chrome OS, Google Apps, iOS, and Android.
• Experience with desktop and laptop computers, MacBooks, Chromebooks, iPads and Android tablets.
• Experience with business equipment and peripheral devices including: printers, copiers, scanners, label and ID printers, video and security systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Equivalent of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field;
• Two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed.

License:

Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
