Varstaff is currently searching for a Computer Operator Direct professional!

This is an immediate need.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities include managing a full range of computer and peripheral equipment necessary to process seismic data by performing the listed duties.

Relationships:

This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. The Operations staff operates 24/7/365.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Highly proficient with commands, programs, scripts, with advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
2. Knowledge of IT Operator Software including Windows and Linux.

IT Operator Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
• Problem-solving skills for software and hardware issues.
• Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.

Additional Responsibilities:

Monitoring and controlling company-wide projects and priorities, load adjustments, batch balancing on all systems, including Omega OCM / Cloud software, and interacting with internal/external customers, vendors, and support teams to resolve system alerts and support calls.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of related experience, training, or education.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, crouch, stoop, walk, and lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly.

Work Environment:

On-premises.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and communicate effectively with internal customers and support staff.

Key Competencies:

Ability to perform duties safely, establish effective relationships, and be proficient with Linux and Windows OS.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Participate in training to develop proficiency in computer operation and data processing equipment.
2. Learn scheduling and monitoring of seismic processing jobs and related hardware.
3. Understand seismic processing applications and equipment configuration.
4. Use commands and interfaces to operate computing systems and hardware.
5. Develop proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems and related programs.
6. Monitor data center safety, power, and cooling systems, and interpret error messages.
7. Use reporting tools for system errors, submit tickets, and document issues.
8. Comply with all QHSE policies in the data center.

Essential Responsibilities:

Oversee scheduling and monitoring of seismic processing jobs on large cluster systems, ensure proper job completion, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with support teams to resolve hardware/software problems.
