Job summary

City of New York FDNY seeks a full-time Computer Associate (Operations) in the Bureau of Enterprise Technology to provide first-level technical support to FDNY personnel and assist senior staff. You will monitor FireCAD, EMSCAD, and other mission-critical systems, performing routine tasks and documenting incidents to ensure continuity of operations.

Responsibilities include basic troubleshooting, escalation when needed, maintaining logs, and acting as the initial point of contact for IT

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time computer operations experience in a large-scale networked environment.
• Or three years with a bachelor’s degree as described above.
• Or four years with a high school diploma as described above.
• Equivalency combining education and experience is acceptable with at least two years in (1).

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to FDNY personnel and assist senior staff.
• Perform routine operational tasks to support FireCAD, EMSCAD, and other systems.
• Monitor hardware, software, peripherals, and applications; troubleshoot basics.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 3 staff per escalation procedures.
• Maintain logs and documentation of support activities and resolutions.
• Assist in developing and maintaining operational templates, logs, and tracking documents.
• Serve as the initial IT contact for user requests, reports, and updates.

The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Computer Associate (Operations) in the Bureau of Enterprise Technology. The successful candidate will:
- Provide first-level technical support to FDNY personnel and assist senior technical staff across BTDS.
- Perform routine operational tasks to support FireCAD, EMSCAD, and other mission-critical systems.
- Monitor primary and backup hardware, software, peripherals, and applications; identify basic issues and perform initial troubleshooting.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to Level 3 staff following established escalation procedures.
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of all support activities, incidents, and resolutions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining operational templates, logs, and tracking documents.
- Act as the initial point of contact for incoming IT-related calls, including user requests, reports, and updates.

Qualifications

1. A certificate from an accredited technical school (approximately 675 hours) with a specialization in computer operations, and two years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience, in a large-scale networked, multi- tiered, or mainframe computer environment, or two years of satisfactory data communications network experience working in a mainframe or multi-tiered computer environment; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2",or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least two years of full-time experience as described in "1" above
