Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a materials/composites engineer to lead qualification and production efforts for large-scale aerospace parts. You will develop and optimize composite processes, author specs, and coordinate testing with internal and external suppliers, while traveling up to 25% to support partners.

The role requires a materials or chemical engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and 4+ years in polymer-based composites, with strong producibility focus and cross-functional collaboration across

Qualifications

  • B.S. or higher in Materials or Chemical Eng from ABET-accredited school.
  • 4+ years of experience with polymer-based composites.
  • Experience with process development and qualification of composite materials for aerospace.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting processes and equipment.
  • Experience with design for producibility and engineering drawing review.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drive qualifications to implement new materials, processes, and hardware.
  • Develop test plans and reports for material characterization for design allowables.
  • Coordinate test panel build and testing within schedule and budget.
  • Author and update specifications for composite applications.
  • Review documentation to ensure hardware requirements compliance.
  • Travel to support internal and external suppliers up to 25%.
