Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a materials-focused engineer to address spaceflight material challenges and optimize manufacturing processes for metallic and non-metallic hardware. You will review drawings, select materials, and define design requirements to meet program goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration across quality, design, structures, thermal, integration, and manufacturing teams, plus intern/leadership experiences and the ability to work independently on fast-paced projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field completed within the last year and able to start Fall 2027.
  • Broad experience with metallic materials (super alloys, Al/Ti) and their processing ( forging, casting, forming, brazing, welding).
  • Experience with non-metallic hardware (o-rings, seals, lubricants) and material characterization/failure modes.
  • Internship or hands-on experience demonstrating technical skills and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to earn trust, work independently, and collaborate with teams on rapid development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team to address material challenges in spaceflight systems.
  • Review production drawings for large assemblies to ensure proper material selection and processes.
  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for metallic and non-metallic hardware.
  • Select materials and define design requirements to meet engineering and program goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to optimize system design and performance.
