Job summary

Valmont Industries in Newberry, SC is seeking a Machine Operator 5 to operate machines per shop drawings and production orders. You will be an individual contributor responsible for setting up equipment, loading programs, and maintaining traceability to ensure on-time, quality parts.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of fast-paced manufacturing experience, the ability to read blueprints, and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
• 2–4 years experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate forklifts and acquire forklift certification (location-based).
• Ability to operate overhead cranes and acquire overhead crane certification (location-based).
• Strong hands-on knowledge operating machines.
• Ability to read and understand blue prints/shop drawings.
• Pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
• Must read a tape measure to within 1/32”.
• Physically lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Strong interpersonal skills and safety awareness.
• Passion and integrity with drive to excel and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Operate a hand-held grinder to finish small part components.
• Load machine programs specific to product orders.
• Process material per shop drawings using designated machines.
• Troubleshoot machine problems and determine resolutions.
• Maintain material traceability.
• Identify improvements within manufacturing to reduce downtime.
• Perform light maintenance and monitor machine needs.
• Manage time to produce quality products within shift hours.
• Communicate feedback with supervisors and team members.
• Perform lean, 5S, and general housekeeping duties.
• Set up machines including rollers to specified lengths where location requires.
• Observe operation and verify conformance to process sheets and blueprints where applicable.
• Use overhead crane to load/unload where location requires.
• Use forklift to move material or machinery where location requires.
