Job summary

Northrop Grumman in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Composite Bonder level 2 to join our Aeronautics Systems operations team. You will bond dissimilar materials into semi-finished or finished assemblies, working with composite, metal, or laminate components.

The role requires at least two years in composite fabrication or bonding, reading blueprints, and operating bonding equipment such as autoclaves, presses and ovens; a U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2 years of relatable composite fabrication or bonding experience.
• Must have current or prior lamination experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
• Must pass New Hire Training/Compliance and New Hire Physical Exam.
• Physical ability to perform moderate strenuous work including lifting up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
• Understand ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes.
• Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete bonding cycle.
• Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls.
• Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
• Monitor and verify quality of finished product.
• Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
