Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a qualified engineer to support parts, components, and applications engineering across proposal, design, LRIP, production, and sustainment. You will manage component obsolescence, coordinate with suppliers, and generate source control drawings while leading part evaluations and BOM development.

Responsibilities

  • Support Parts, Components, and Applications Engineering across proposal, design, LRIP, production, and sustainment.
  • Manage component obsolescence, including status determination and risk coding.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers and audit communications.
  • Create and update source control drawings and interface documents (SCDs, VICDs, SIDs).
  • Perform alternate part evaluations and prepare comparison matrices.
  • Define environmental and performance requirements for component programs.
  • Provide guidance on technology insertion and standardization within constraints.
  • Develop verification plans and assess risks with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Create component verification data packages and deliver support to IP teams.
  • Lead component selection and BOM development with collaboration tools.
  • Present obsolescence status and risks at PDRs/CDRs; support agile product development.

Job description

  • Support Parts, Components, and Applications Engineering activities across proposal, system design, LRIP, production, and sustainment phases
  • Manage component obsolescence, including active/obsolete status determination and risk coding
  • Coordinate, audit, and communicate with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Generate and update source control and interface drawings, including SCDs, VICDs, and SIDs
  • Perform alternate part evaluations and prepare comparison matrices
  • Define component environmental and performance requirements for program applications
  • Provide guidance on technology insertion, part selection, and standardization within constraints
  • Assess component risks and establish verification plans with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Create component verification data packages
  • Deliver applications engineering support to integrated product teams
  • Lead component selection and library use through BOM development and collaboration toolsets
  • Present component standardization, design library updates, obsolescence status, and termination finish risks during PDRs/CDRs
  • Support Product Development Engineering in an agile environment, including BOM scrubs, obsolescence and supply chain management, Tin Whisker/Gold Embrittlement assessments, documentation control, and alternate part reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on CCAs used in mission-critical applications
  • Develop component engineering practices and gain experience in obsolescence management, supplier collaboration, source control drawings, risk and verification plans, and applications engineering support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience working in Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • Experience developing and interpreting electrical component specifications and large datasets to form basic conclusions
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data on technical component issues
  • Working knowledge of proactive and reactive component obsolescence methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Working knowledge of electronic component manufacturers
  • Experience supporting airborne or military hardware programs
  • Experience with component roadmaps and obsolescence management
  • Experience conducting alternate part and alternate source investigations
  • Experience applying parts standardization and technology insertion during design
  • Knowledge of digital, power, or RF circuit design
  • Experience with task management tools and agile frameworks, such as Jira
  • Familiarity with AI tools and limitations
  • U.S. citizenship is required; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Security clearance is not required
