Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced electrical systems engineer to lead development for autonomous platforms. You will design and integrate electrical subsystems, manage technical data packages, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production readiness and DoD compliance.

The role requires defense industry experience, ability to obtain clearance, and hands-on work across office, lab, and shipboard environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with no experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain government clearance.
• Experience supporting defense contracts and production floor environments.
• Experience in circuit card assembly design, prototyping, and production readiness reviews.
• Experience in software/firmware development and cybersecurity products.

Job description

• Lead development of advanced electrical capabilities for integration into autonomous systems
• Design and implement electrical systems for energy, navigation, propulsion, sensor, control, launch, and recovery subsystems
• Participate in product life cycle analysis
• Develop and manage technical data packages for new and existing designs
• Work within cross-functional design teams
• Bring electrical systems designs through first article release, testing, integration, manufacturing delivery, and manufacturing support and improvements
• Support new development, production, and sustaining electrical systems efforts
• Address electrical systems performance, physical packaging and power constraints, EMI/EMC requirements, modularity, extensibility, and circuit and signal performance modeling
• Communicate designs and issues to corresponding departments
• Research, develop, and plan electromechanical products for autonomous applications
• Support Sales and Marketing with engineering special quotes
• Provide manufacturing and design documentation
• Estimate labor and material costs
• Drive configuration management philosophy in products
• Build prototypes and test fixtures
• Perform assigned project management duties
• Travel to offsite locations as assigned
• Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, software systems, and networks

Requirements

• 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance
• Experience supporting fast paced production floor
• Experience working in defense contracts
• Extensive experience in multi-disciplinary product development teams, including technical leadership of small projects
• Extensive experience in circuit card assembly design process, including requirements reviews, prototyping, manufacturability reviews, supportability reviews, and production readiness reviews
• Experience architecting platform electrical and power systems
• Experience in software/firmware development
• Experience working with cybersecurity products and requirements
• Familiarity with marine systems containing hardware and software components developed and produced for DoD use
• Attention to detail and accurate documentation
• Ability to work in office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environments
• Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces, and extreme temperature variances
