Job summary

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Compliance Engineer/Specialist to ensure hollow metal doors and frames meet fire-rated and windstorm standards across multiple facilities. You will liaison with UL and Intertek, manage listings, prepare for inspections, and drive corrective actions with operations.

The role requires 3–5 years in compliance or certification management, a related technical degree, and willingness to travel up to 40% including Mexico and Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in compliance, quality systems, or certification management within building products, construction materials, or a related manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of hollow metal door and frame construction and performance standards
• Direct experience working with UL, Intertek, or similar third-party certification bodies preferred
• Strong understanding of fire-rated, windstorm, and/or impact-resistant product requirements
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple certifications across facilities
• Proven ability to address audit findings and implement corrective actions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with auditors, facility leaders, and cross-functional teams
• Ability to balance compliance enforcement with a collaborative, partnership-driven approach
• Willingness to travel up to 40%, including travel to Mexico and Canada

Responsibilities

• Ensure Door Group facilities maintain compliance with applicable standards and codes.
• Manage UL and Intertek certifications across multiple facilities and brands.
• Initiate and manage listing updates for new or enhanced product offerings.
• Document certification listing changes and approvals.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate certifications and expand product capabilities.
• Prepare facilities for third-party certification inspections with proper records and samples.
• Conduct internal audits and drive corrective actions with operations teams.
• Develop and maintain internal compliance procedures supporting certification requirements.
• Track and resolve non-conformances and corrective action reports.
• Serve as SME for fire-rated and windstorm product compliance.
• Provide training on certification requirements to cross-functional teams.
• Support product development in assessing certification impacts for designs.
