The UMB Compensation team is part of the Human Resources organization and responsible for researching and understanding current and upcoming competitive market trends for associate pay. The team shapes competitive compensation programs that support our associates and company.
As a Compensation Analyst, you will perform analysis and research on compensation policies and practices in support of ensuring equitable and competitive compensation programs. You will support the Compensation Consultants on the team with various activities to implement and administer compensation policies and programs. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by Human Resources leadership.
This role is hybrid (Tue through Thu on-site) for candidates in the Kansas City metropolitan area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of the Kansas City area but only within the US.
How You’ll Spend Your Time
- Assist with the review of the organization’s base salary structure and ranges, including updated job descriptions and market pricing.
- Support the preparation of needed ad-hoc compensation reports and corresponding analysis.
- Maintain job profiles with updated information in HR System (Workday).
- Participate in designated salary surveys by matching UMB jobs to survey jobs and submitting to survey companies.
- Perform regular compensation data audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity and partner with compensation team for resolutions as needed.
- Facilitate the setup in Archer and uploading of Variable Annual Pay Plans (VAPP) for approvals.
- Review existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommend appropriate courses of action.
We’re excited to talk with you if
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of Human Resources experience OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- You have previous experience working in a role heavily focused on numerical data and information.
- You are able to handle sensitive and confidential information including presenting to the team and/or management.
- You have solid verbal and written communication skills in order to write, present and share ideas and articulate concepts or ideas.
- You have demonstrated success meeting timelines and deadlines.
- You have the flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- You have knowledge of Microsoft Office products including strong proficiency with Excel in order to analyze and create reports.
Bonus Points If
- You have at least 2 years of Compensation experience or working knowledge of basic compensation theories and practices.
- You have familiarity with basic structure within Workday and Workday Report Writer.
- You have good understanding of organizational structure.

Compensation Range
$51,480.00 - $99,330.00
