Job summary

South Kendall Animal Hospital, located in Palmetto Bay, Florida, seeks a skilled veterinary assistant/receptionist to be the primary contact for clients and their pets. The role blends administrative precision with compassionate client care across front-desk and clinical support tasks.

You will greet clients, manage appointments, handle payments, update EMR/PIMS records, assist veterinarians, and support patient flow in a high-volume clinic.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary front desk or assistant role
• Experience with veterinary practice management software is preferred
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, vaccination protocols, and basic diagnostic procedures

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in clients and patients, verify records, and confirm appointments
• Answer a multi-line phone system and handle inquiries on scheduling, refills, and records
• Process payments, post charges, and schedule follow-ups
• Communicate medical information compassionately, including end-of-life discussions
• Maintain EMR/PIMS data entry and clinic cleanliness
• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and communicate with clients effectively
