Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Vetco Total Care hospital team in Charlotte, NC. You will deliver high-quality medical care to patients and outstanding service to clients, supporting doctors during exams, surgeries, and procedures.

Responsibilities include patient restraint, medication administration, record-keeping, and assisting with in-hospital treatments. We value teamwork, compassion, and strong communication in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1 year experience in veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients; record vital signs and history.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, dentistry, euthanasia.
• Handle medications, administer injections, and support anesthesia per guidance.
• Schedule appointments and educate clients; maintain patient records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor during anesthesia and recovery.
• Assist in in-hospital treatments and post-care duties.
• Support training of new staff and maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
