Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Assistant to provide medical care and outstanding client service in our Vetco Total Care hospital environment.

You will greet clients and patients, assist veterinarians, manage patient records, and support anesthesia and recovery while maintaining a compassionate, team-centered approach. You will contribute to a clean, safe hospital, support ongoing training, and help ensure a positive experience for pets and their owners across daily clinic

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, record vital signs and visit details.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle patient restraint and assist with sample collection and medication dispensation.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, and update records.
• Assist in preparing patients for surgical/dental procedures and monitor anesthesia.
• Perform in-hospital treatments including medications and IV fluids, monitor patients.
• Support training of new staff and share knowledge as required.
• Maintain a clean hospital environment and follow maintenance schedules.
