Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support our Vetco Total Care hospital team. You will greet clients, record histories, assist with exams, surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia under supervision, and help maintain a compassionate, efficient clinic.

You will manage patient records, prep patients for procedures, handle medications, and ensure a clean, safe hospital environment while delivering excellent customer service to pet parents.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic, with professional demeanor under stress.
• Telephone and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and record in EMR.
• Assist doctors with exams, surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia under supervision.
• Handle laboratory samples, process tests, and dispense medications as directed by veterinarian.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, and maintain client/patient records.
• Keep hospital environment neat and clean and assist in training new staff.
