Job summary

All Creatures Veterinary Clinic & Lodge in Ohio is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, monitor hospitalized pets, prep prescriptions, and assist with surgeries. You will educate clients, handle lab work, take vitals, collect samples, and help maintain clean exam rooms while providing warmth and compassion to clients and animals.

You will work with a collaborative team to ensure high-quality care across dogs, cats, pocket pets and exotics, with weekend

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance above 25 pounds.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic math and medication dosage calculations.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital laboratory testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, restock supplies, and help with lab areas.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism to clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and staff regarding patient plans and concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
