Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care hospital in Colorado. The incumbent will deliver excellent veterinary care to patients and outstanding customer service to owners, supporting the hospital team and adhering to our patient-first values.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians, handling anesthesia support, managing records, and educating clients. A credentialed technician with at least 1 year of experience and strong communication

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state.
• At least 1 year of prior veterinary technician experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Strong telephone and computer skills.
• Team player open to learning and growth.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document visits in the electronic medical record.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, dispense medications as directed, and update EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, communicate test results, and manage records and accounts.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and assist with discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments, care for patients, and assist with medications and fluids as prescribed.
• Participate in training of new staff and maintain hospital cleanliness and readiness.
